Through a collaboration with MaineGeneral’s Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care, patients have access to specialized oncology expertise and personalized treatment plans while receiving ongoing cancer care in Lewiston.

Cancer treatment can be challenging enough without having to travel long distances for care. Through our collaboration with MaineGeneral’s Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care, patients have access to specialized oncology expertise and the resources of a comprehensive cancer program while receiving ongoing treatment and infusion services in Lewiston. Our coordinated approach helps ensure patients receive the care, support and guidance they need throughout treatment.

Patients will establish care through MaineGeneral’s Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care and meet with an oncology specialist to review their diagnosis, discuss treatment options and develop an individualized care plan.
Many ongoing oncology services, including medical staff visits and infusion treatments, will be provided at St. Mary’s in Lewiston, allowing patients to receive care closer to home whenever possible.
Cancer care involves more than treatment alone. Our team works closely with patients, families and referring medical staff to coordinate care, answer questions and connect patients with supportive resources throughout the treatment journey.
We understand that transportation can be a challenge during cancer treatment. St. Mary’s will work with patients to help coordinate available transportation resources when appropriate.

Dr. Polkinghorn is a board-certified medical oncologist at MaineGeneral’s Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care in Augusta, where he also serves as oncology medical director. He worked at Maine Center for Cancer Medicine in Brunswick for more than 13 years and served as medical director of medical oncology at Mid Coast Hospital as well. Since 1998, he also has been a clinical professor of medicine at University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington, VT. A member of MaineGeneral Medical Center’s active staff, he established his practice locally in March 2012.
Katelyn Isaac, AGACNP-BC, is a board-certified adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner who provides compassionate and knowledgeable care to hematologic and medical oncologic patients at the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care and at the outpatient satellite clinic in Farmington. She has been an NP since 2014 and has been with MaineGeneral since 2015, beginning in MaineGeneral Surgery. She also covers inpatient service at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta.
Krysten Millett, AGACNP-BC, is a board-certified adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner who provides compassionate and knowledgeable care to hematologic and medical oncologic patients at the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care, which she joined in March 2024. She serves outpatient, inpatient and other satellite clinics. Ms. Millett began her clinical career as a registered nurse in January 2013 and worked in various nursing roles before completing her graduate degree program in December 2023.
