Gary Degen, DPM
Dr. Degen is a podiatrist with surgical and fellowship training. In addition to working at St. Mary’s, he is also the director of the Maine Podiatric Medical Association. His desire to help people, and the influence from his large medical family led him to podiatry. “You pretty much control your own destiny when it comes to what you want to do,” Dr. Degen recalls his family telling him. “You have the ability to do surgery, medical, really every realm of medicine.”

What do you enjoy most about your work?
The patients, and the ability to make a difference, even if it is the smallest amount.
Do you have any hobbies?
Music, National Ski Patrol Member, hiking, most anything outdoors.
What is your favorite food?
Pizza
Do you have a favorite sports team?
Boston Bruins, I’m not a fair weather fan. We need more than six Stanley Cups.
