For Winfield “Win” Brown, All Roads Lead To Lewiston

Wellness

A native of Hampden, Brown’s connection to Lewiston runs deep. His community connections began at Bates College, where he was the fourth generation of family to attend. His oldest daughter, Kathryn, who was born at St. Mary’s followed in his footsteps keeping the family legacy at the college unbroken. Fittingly, his healthcare career brought him back to Lewiston 28 years ago when he joined St. Mary’s Health System as Executive Director and Vice President of the Sisters of Charity Foundation. With his return as President of St. Mary’s Health System, Brown considers the position to be both a homecoming and a new chapter.

“Coming back is a full-circle moment,” Brown shares. “There’s something powerful about being called to return to the community that helped shape who I am and means so much to me and my family.”

Brown’s wife, Wendy, an Augusta native, is a behavioral health therapist who shares his commitment to serving the community, adding another layer to their shared dedication to serving others.

With over two decades of healthcare leadership, Brown’s experience spans operational and strategic excellence, most recently as Interim CEO of Mt. Ascutney Hospital & Health Center, part of Dartmouth Health. A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Brown’s track record of driving financial resilience and high-quality outcomes positions him to build on the strong foundation laid by Cindy Segar-Miller, who led St. Mary’s for the previous 18 months.

Brown is forward-looking and optimistic about the future of St. Mary’s and the greater Lewiston-Auburn area. He envisions a health system that grows in partnership with its community, strengthening services and developing new, impactful initiatives that prioritize health and wellness for all. Brown believes St. Mary’s has a unique role to play in enhancing the quality of life in Lewiston and beyond.

“There’s no better place for me to be,” he says.
