James Poulin, MD is a board-certified family medicine physician with advanced training in sports medicine. A Maine native, he is passionate about helping patients of all ages stay healthy, active, and engaged in the lifestyles they love.

Dr. Poulin earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed his Family Medicine Residency at Central Maine Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. He went on to complete a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Maine-Dartmouth, gaining extensive experience in injury prevention, diagnosis, and rehabilitation for athletes at every level.

His hands-on experience includes sideline and training room coverage for high school, college, and endurance events across Maine, including Colby College, Bates College, Thomas College, and the Beach to Beacon 10K. Dr. Poulin’s areas of interest include musculoskeletal medicine, ultrasound-guided procedures, and the use of regenerative therapies such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP).

Dedicated to continuous learning and clinical excellence, Dr. Poulin has contributed to scholarly projects on diabetes screening, radiology education, and musculoskeletal injury management. His leadership experience includes serving on residency curriculum and evaluation committees and participating in electronic health record optimization initiatives.
