A Message of Gratitude and Hope for the New Year

Wellness

A message from Win Brown, President, St. Mary’s Health System:

As we turn the page on another year, I want to pause and reflect with gratitude on the dedication, compassion and professionalism our teams bring to St. Mary’s every single day.

A new year can hold different meaning for each of us. It may bring optimism and new beginnings or offer a quiet moment to reflect both back and ahead. However this season finds you, I hope it brings steadiness and hope.

Healthcare does not pause, and neither does the responsibility entrusted to us. Each day, our teams serve patients, residents and families with skill and compassion, earning trust often during some of life’s most challenging moments.

St. Mary’s serves our community across a broad and connected continuum of care. Within our community hospital, patients receive acute, emergency and inpatient care supported by behavioral health, recovery services, advanced surgical care and hospital-based primary and specialty care. Specialized programs such as sleep medicine and wound care address complex needs and support long term healing. Outpatient primary care and specialty offices, physical rehabilitation and urgent care help ensure access to care close to home. These efforts have been recently recognized through multiple national distinctions, including Leapfrog, Forbes and the Women’s Choice Awards.

Our commitment extends across the lifespan. At d’Youville Pavilion, one of the state’s largest long term care facilities, caregivers support individuals with complex medical and long-term needs with dignity and respect. At St. Mary’s Residences, 128 independent living apartments offer stability, connection and peace of mind for elders in our community.

This work is rooted in our Catholic identity and the spirit of service modeled by our foundress, Saint Marguerite d’Youville. Guided by faith, we are called to recognize the dignity of every person and to care for the whole person in mind, body and spirit. That calling continues to shape how we serve our community and one another.

I am deeply thankful to the individuals and families who choose St. Mary’s for their care and to the donors who help extend our mission. Your trust and support guide our work each and every day.

Looking ahead to 2026, I am proud of where St. Mary’s stands today, and confident in the direction we are moving. Our Day Hospital Program is already supporting individuals and families across our community and will soon transition into a newly renovated space designed to create an even more welcoming and supportive environment. We are actively renovating our C2 unit into a state-of-the-art Center for Recovery, strengthening access to substance use treatment, and expanding surgical services through bariatric surgery. At the same time, we continue to thoughtfully evolve our clinical programs to better reflect the needs of the people we serve.

Thank you to our staff for the care you provide and to our community for the trust you place in us.

Wishing you a healthy and hopeful New Year,

Win
