What is the Intensive Outpatient Program?
The Intensive Outpatient Program, also called IOP, is a structured behavioral health treatment program for adults who need more support than weekly outpatient therapy alone. Participants attend therapy multiple days each week while continuing to balance responsibilities at home, work or school.
IOP is designed to help patients manage symptoms, develop practical coping strategies and build the tools needed for everyday life. In a welcoming and supportive setting, patients can focus on progress while staying connected to the routines and responsibilities that matter most.
Who may benefit from IOP?
IOP may be a good fit for adults who:
- need more support than traditional weekly therapy
- are finding it difficult to manage symptoms on their own
- are transitioning from a higher level of care and would benefit from continued support
- are ready to take an active role in their mental health while maintaining daily routines
What patients can expect
During the program, patients work on:
- developing healthy coping strategies
- improving communication
- strengthening self-awareness
- building routines that support long-term stability
- feeling more confident navigating everyday challenges
