The Albert Lepage Center for Patient Experience at St. Mary’s was established in 2017 thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Albert Lepage and the Albert Lepage Foundation. The Center was founded to bolster St. Mary’s efforts to improve the processes and communication related to the delivery of healthcare and create an environment that minimizes distress by bringing comfort to patients and their families. St. Mary’s patient ratings have risen steadily since the implementation of the Center’s efforts.
Patient Experience Manager Mariah Rinck and Patient Experience Specialist Diane Brule joined forces in 2022 to continue to carry out the Center’s goals. Here are some of the programs funded by the Center in 2022.
Medication Booklets Patient medication booklets were developed in January 2022 to better educate patients on the medications they are taking and the potential side effects. Nurses use the booklets to review with patients and highlight significant information.
Comfort Care Baskets The Comfort Care Basket program is offered to patients in end-of-life situations. The baskets include donated blankets, bookmarks and branded candles to honor patients and provide families with meaningful recognition at the end of life. |
Teddy Bear Program Stuffed animals were provided to pediatric and developmentally delayed day surgery patients with an incredibly positive response from patients and families. The surgical team shared that the stuffed animals helped break the ice and make the children more relaxed. |
