LEWISTON, BANGOR and SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine and ANDOVER, Mass – March 5, 2026 – Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Maine (Anthem) and Covenant Health today announced they have reached a new multi-year contract agreement. It ensures Anthem members will continue to have in-network access to Covenant Health hospitals (St. Mary’s and St Joseph Hospital), physician practices, and affiliated clinical services across Maine.
The renewed contract reflects a shared commitment between Anthem and Covenant Health to provide access to high-quality, affordable care to individuals, families, and employers throughout the state.
“This agreement reinforces our strong partnership with Covenant Health and the important role they play in the Maine communities they serve,” said Denise McDonough, President of Anthem in Maine. “We are pleased to continue working together to ensure our members have access to trusted local providers while advancing affordability, quality, and whole-person care across Maine.”
Through the new agreement, Anthem members will maintain in-network access to Covenant Health facilities and services in Maine, including:
• St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston
• St. Mary’s Health System physician practices and specialty services
• St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor
• St. Joseph Healthcare primary and specialty care practices
• Long-term care, rehabilitation, and community-based services affiliated with Covenant Health in Maine
Covenant Health serves communities across Central and Western Maine through its hospitals, medical groups, and continuing care services, providing a broad range of inpatient, outpatient, primary, specialty, and post-acute care.
