D.T. Sahajpal, MD

Dr. Sahajpal is a board certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder, upper limb, hip, knee, and sports-related injuries. He provides advanced surgical and nonsurgical care, including arthroscopy, joint replacement, and complex hip labral repair, with a focus on helping patients return to their daily activities safely and as quickly as possible.

A former college and national level soccer and badminton player in Canada, Dr. Sahajpal understands firsthand the physical and emotional importance of recovery. He emphasizes patient education, individualized treatment plans, and the use of the latest evidence based techniques to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Dr. Sahajpal has completed extensive subspecialty training, including fellowships in shoulder and elbow surgery at New York University/Hospital for Joint Diseases, additional elbow surgery training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and a sports medicine fellowship at the internationally recognized Steadman Hawkins Clinic. This advanced training enables him to treat a wide range of complex orthopedic conditions using modern, minimally invasive approaches whenever appropriate.

He has also cared for athletes at the highest levels of competition. Dr. Sahajpal served as an associate team physician for Major League Baseball teams including the New York Mets and Colorado Rockies and worked with the ATP and WTA professional tennis tours at the Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells, California. His experience extends to professional hockey as well as collegiate, high school, and youth athletics.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Sahajpal has held an academic appointment as an assistant professor of hand, upper limb, and joint reconstruction at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he authored numerous research articles and book chapters.

Dr. Sahajpal earned his Doctor of Medicine from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Prince Edward Island. He completed his orthopedic surgery internship and residency at Queen’s University/Kingston General Hospital in Canada.
