Center for Recovery FAQ's

The Center for Recovery at St. Mary’s is a reimagined approach to substance use treatment. Designed to be more accessible and more connected, it provides a safe, supportive space for individuals seeking recovery. The program includes personalized care on our inpatient Recovery Unit and strong coordination with community-based services to support long-term success.

The Rapid Access Center is a new entry point for recovery services, created to reduce barriers and offer faster, more comfortable access to care. Rather than going through the Emergency Department, individuals can connect with a Recovery Coordinator by phone to be screened and referred to the most appropriate level of care. In some cases, same-day admission to the Recovery Unit may be possible, without ever stepping foot in the ED.

The Rapid Access Center is open every day from 8 AM to 6 PM. After-hours callers can leave a message, and someone will return the call the following morning. Emergency care remains available 24/7 through our Emergency Department.

Not at this time. All access starts with a phone screening. This allows our team to match individuals with the right level of care quickly and safely. Walk-ins are redirected to the Emergency Department.

You’ll find us on the first floor of St. Mary’s, Room G1066, directly across from Day Surgery.

Call our Rapid Access Line at 207-376-3419 to speak with a Recovery Coordinator.

We only schedule same-day appointments to keep beds available for those in urgent need. If you call in the morning, you may be eligible for same-day admission depending on availability and clinical need.

Most of the time, yes. Our Recovery Coordinators are available on-site during open hours, although they may occasionally step away to assist with patient care or other duties. Providing timely, direct access to recovery services is their top priority.

Absolutely. The Emergency Department remains an option for anyone in need. If you call the Rapid Access Line instead, our team will determine the most appropriate setting for your care. Based on your screening, you may be admitted directly to the Recovery Unit or guided through the ED if necessary.

Recovery starts the moment you reach out.
