St. Mary’s Health System, a member of Covenant Health, recently welcomed Joe Wood as its new Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. Wood will lead the development, administration and management of all the hospital’s financial policies including accounting, budgeting, reporting and more.

“Joe has been with our health system in a variety of finance, planning and analysis roles over the years and has a proven record of success,” says Win Brown, FACHE, president, St. Mary’s Health System and senior vice president, Covenant Health. “He’s a strong addition to the senior leadership team and I’m pleased to welcome him.”

Wood adds, “It’s a privilege to take on this role and continue being a part of carrying on the work of St. Mary’s Health System, a member of Covenant Health, which was founded in 1888 by the Sisters of Charity of Saint-Hyacinthe.”

Prior to accepting this position, Wood was the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis at Covenant Health for several years. Before that, he served as the Controller at St. Mary’s for a decade. Prior to joining the health system, Wood was the Chief Financial Officer at Houlton Regional Hospital in Houlton, Maine, which was managed by HCA Healthcare.

Wood is a Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, or HFMA, holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maine in Orono and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Babson College in Wellesley, Mass.
