Commit to Get Fit Challenge

The 2022 9th Annual Commit to Get Fit Challenge in support of the St. Mary’s Nutrition Center will take place on Sunday, October 16, on the Feast Day of St. Marguerite d’Youville. Last year, we had more than 400 friends and families raise $85,500 for the Nutrition Center.

The reformatted event will feature a 5K run and Harvest Walk starting and finishing at Simard Payne Memorial Park in Lewiston.  Music, food, fitness activities, demonstrations, and vendors will be located at the park.

The support of our local communities helps us to provide the high quality of care that is essential to our mission of compassionate healing. The health and well-being of our community is at the core of our mission. Fitness is an integral part of building a healthy community, and we invite you to join us in October 2022. This event is open to all ages, so bring a friend, your family or colleagues and start the day with us!

See the menu below for more information on each event or click “Register” to register for both events, set up a fundraising team, and/or select a volunteer opportunity. Contact Deb Anthoine at danthoine@stmarysmaine.com for more information.

After the 5K run, join us for this SOUPer new part of our event – a Harvest Walk.  Free for runners and community members alike, the St. Mary’s Nutrition Center is excited to invite you to “Walk the Neighborhood” with us!

Registered walkers will receive a complimentary tote bag and Tuscan Farro Soup recipe at Simard Payne Memorial Park before heading out on a route that will lead you through downtown Lewiston on a pre-determined route.  Walkers will collect an ingredient for their soup at each of the following community partners on the route:  Trinity Jubilee Center, St. Mary’s B Street Clinic, Heart & Soil Community Garden, the Root Cellar, Tree Street Youth, Pine Street Garden, Community Credit Union, the proposed L-A Community Market, and the Lewiston Farmer’s Market.

The Harvest Walk route will end back at Simard Payne Memorial Park where you and your family, friends, and coworkers can enjoy music, the oatmeal bar provided by St. Mary’s own Metz, the St. Mary’s Good Food Bus and local food trucks.  Kids can jump in the bounce houses provided by the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA and visit the fire truck and police cruiser provided by the City of Lewiston and the ambulance provided by United Ambulance.

Although there is no cost to participate in the Harvest Walk, YOU MUST REGISTER!  Walkers can begin the route any time between 10 am and 11:30 am after checking in at the registration table.

This year we are hoping all registrants will create a personal fundraising page.  Once you register, you will be prompted to become a fundraiser.  These personal fundraising pages are easy to set up.  If each participant asked their friends on social media to chip in $10, the Nutrition Center can grow the programs that organize, advocate, and educate members of our community!
