Volunteer at St. Mary’s – Give Back, Grow, and Make a Difference

Looking for a meaningful way to contribute to your community while gaining valuable experience in a healthcare setting? St. Mary’s welcomes adult and college/university volunteers year-round to be part of our dedicated team, supporting patients, staff, and visitors with compassion and care.

Whether you’re exploring a career in healthcare, returning to the workforce, or simply passionate about helping others, our volunteer program offers a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact. Volunteers serve in a variety of roles across the hospital and our adjoining nursing home, d’Youville Pavilion – from greeting visitors and assisting with administrative tasks, to helping transport patients or supporting recreational and therapeutic activities.

Our volunteers enjoy:

✔ Flexible scheduling options to fit around work or school
✔ A welcoming, team-oriented environment
✔ Opportunities to develop professional skills and serve their community in a meaningful way

No previous experience is necessary—just a kind heart, a willingness to learn, and a desire to help others.

Applications are open year-round, and we’re always looking for compassionate individuals ready to make a difference.

Join the St. Mary’s Junior Volunteer Program – Make a Difference This Summer!

Are you between the ages of 14 and 17 and looking for a meaningful way to spend your summer? St. Mary’s Hospital invites motivated and compassionate youth to apply for our Junior Volunteer Program – a rewarding opportunity to gain real-world experience, give back to the community, and explore careers in healthcare.

Each summer, Junior Volunteers commit to serving at least one full day per week, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. During this time, volunteers provide valuable support to our hospital staff, patients, and residents of our adjoining nursing home, d’Youville Pavilion. Whether helping with patient transport, delivering items, assisting with recreational activities, or simply offering a warm smile, Junior Volunteers truly make a difference.

This is an excellent opportunity for teens to build confidence, develop interpersonal skills, and discover the joy of helping others in a professional healthcare environment and gain valuable service hours that can be used for school or college applications.

The program runs from June-August, with opportunities to volunteer during the school year. Applications open each Spring. Check our application page for more details on how to apply.
