During a typical year, volunteers donate hundreds of hours of service to the hospital. Consider joining the team of adult and junior volunteers who have a positive impact on delivering quality patient care every day.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for our patients and staff, volunteers must complete the following before being approved:

*Once the completed application and two references are received Volunteer Services, we will be in touch with you to schedule an interview and coordinate the following items:

  • Attend volunteer orientation
  • TB test (completed by the hospital’s Employee Health & Wellness team)
  • COVID-19 vaccination documentation required
  • Vaccination history record
  • Flu shot* (health documentation is required, or a shot may be obtained from the hospital’s Employee Health & Wellness team)

*This must be done yearly. You may not volunteer without an annual flu shot.

  • Free annual flu shot and TB screening (PPD)
  • Free COVID-19 vaccination
  • Complete the Junior Volunteer Application here.
  • Applicants MUST be between 14 and 17 years of age as of May 6, 2023.
  • New junior volunteer applicants will be asked to participate in a one-on-one interview with staff. Returning junior volunteers will be asked to participate in a group interview with staff.
  • Acceptance to program will be determined no later than May 22, 2023.

Upon acceptance to the program…

  • Mandatory orientation scheduled for Thursday, June 23, 2022 for all new and returning Junior Volunteers accepted to the program.
  • Junior Volunteers must commit to volunteer at least one full day per week.
  • The volunteer day lasts from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with lunch & beverages provided at no charge to volunteers. Volunteers MUST be dropped-off and picked-up at the hospital’s main lobby only. Parents and Junior Volunteers are expected to comply with this safety and security mandate throughout the summer.
  • New Junior Volunteers will need to have a TB test which can be completed free of charge at our WorkMed practice in Auburn.
  • Junior Volunteers must provide the Volunteer Office with a copy of current immunization records. To comply with State of Maine mandates to work in a health care facility, you must be immunized against mumps and measles (Rubella) and COVID-19. Please do NOT submit immunization papers unless you are accepted to the program.
